Arcs de Monells is a feature-packed family-run hotel. It is located in the town of Monells, in the Baix Emporda, right at the foot of the Gavarres, very close to the main tourist attractions of the Empordà and just a few kilometres from Girona and the magnificent beaches of the Costa Brava.
Located in a unique setting, it stands out for the peace and quiet it offers and its connection with the local environment; traits that make this rural hotel the perfect accommodation for those looking for relaxation and intimacy while enjoying the best of the Empordà.
The hotel’s main building is none other than Mas Fabregas, an old fortified farmhouse that was once a former hospital for the poor and for pilgrims. It was founded in 1364 by María de Jérica, Countess of Prades and Empúries by marriage to Ramón Berenguer I, son of King James II of Catalonia and Aragon.
It is as if history is trying to remind us that the very walls and stones that welcomed 14th-century voyagers, today welcome 21st-century travellers. There are a total of 21 rooms, spread over 2 buildings and surrounded by a beautiful garden where you can walk or relax, and a large 4-level infinity pool.
The hotel has a restaurant and café bar with terrace reserved for its guests, with the possibility of dinner all year round, and also lunch from Midsummer’s Eve until the end of August. Its cuisine focuses on local and seasonal produce; offering fresh high quality foods that go to make up a cuisine that is prepared in the traditional Catalan, and above all local, style.
